Flumergex is pleased to announce our second album release of 2026: the new album of alternative electronica, Car Advertisements.
Friends, we’re excited because this is possibly our most accessible music yet. These synth-pop-tastic electro beats are quite possibly the sounds that will really put Flumergex on the map, yo (I mean, maybe? you never know).
Yes, perhaps you are a superfan and you thought you had in your mind a well-defined conception of the trademark Flumergex sound: but we beg to respectfully remind you O best beloved that in our retconned definition, to “Flumergex” is to “merge within a state of flux,” thus when you begin to explore the Flumergex sound itself, you find that our musical style and our production methods are in a neverending state of flux, so that we offer listeners a surprising, exciting, constant musical exploration.
Inspired by an online course on sync licensing, Jesse worked on writing, producing, and recording the 18 songs of Car Advertisements for two full years, from the Spring of 2024 through the Spring of 2026. There were some adventures in there for sure! Possibly the best bit is that towards the end Jesse set up a camera and filmed the production process for parts of several songs. Watch for that edited sort of “how-to and tutorial” type footage in the future, we’re working on putting that together.
Do you have it streaming in the background yet? You can get that going while you read the rest of this.
The tracks on Car Advertisements are:
- Cooling – Instrumental. Intentionally short for a TV spot, this one has a super-cool drum synth groove, a suspenseful clean guitar and pad that resolves to bright and cheery resolution at the end.
- I Want More – Instrumental. Fast! This rip-roaring rocker embodies the concept of Car Adverisements. It’s all here: the swirling arpeggios, the catchy lead lines, the funkalicious percussion, and that hard-hitting heavy guitar riffs on the low end.
- Super Swagger Strut – Instrumental. This is the music that plays in the background while you swagger and strut your awesome stuff down the avenue, the master of all you survey, dressed well and looking good, admired by all (yes, you are even admired by the haters: they’re just jealous, yo).
- Rebelling Against Conformity – descriptions coming soon! Stay awesome! Give it a listen!
- Heating
- The Freedom to Live
- Together Now
- Obstacles We Overcome
- Duct Work
- Party Down
- Friendly Competition
- You Are So Fun
- Satisfaction Guaranteed
- We Are Heroes Today
- Shiny New Confidence
- Platonic Love, Baby
- Ventilation
- Say You’re Sorry

For a time, I set up both my book publishing and my music publishing through a company called CreateSpace, which allowed me to distribute print-on-demand books and CDs through the up-and-coming online giant, Amazon. But then Amazon bought CreateSpace, and completely shuttered the entire CD manufacturing department: possibly because of the complexities involved in copyrights and royalties related to short-run custom CD manufacturing and distribution; or possibly because they saw .mp3 technology as the way of the future: but more probably (I speculate) because an initial accounting review revealed that print-on-demand CDs were insufficiently profitable, so Amazon made the managerial decision to shutter that whole department, which means that if you have an old CD copy of the 2011 Flumergex album Emerges then it could almost be considered a rare collector’s item, except that there are no collectors for the item in question, but I hope it brings you great joy nonetheless.
